Good for wide feet
Rating: 3
I haven't owned a pair, but I have tried them on at the store and one thing I know for sure is that these don't look good on people with long, medium feet like me. They made my feet look really wide and short. I eventually got Grishko 2007 pros, but I got fitted wrong and so now I'm going to try Freed Classics or Studio.

I have used many different types of pointe shoes. I have extremely wide feet. I have been dancing for 4 years. I have tried Bloch, Freed, Grishko, Chacott, and Gaynor Minden, and none of them were wide enough. When I tried these shoes they actually worked. I haven't danced in them yet, but i think they will work out.

My shoe
Rating: 4
I am now about to buy my third pair and am sure I have found "my shoe". My feet are narrow at the heel, but wide at the toes and these shoes have been perfect for my feet. No pinching and they are easy to break-in. I have had my second pair for about 6 to 8 months (I only use them once a week)and they are perfect right now to the point where they are almost too soft so I'm ready to have a new pair on hand. Of coarse there may be room for improvement, but I have had no complaints.

The shank broke in after one month. This shoe is not recommended for dancers with high, strong arches.

Incredible
Rating: 5
These shoes are perfect for the beginner dancer! Our daughter just went on pointe and was having trouble getting over her box. She had the wrong shoes and after trying these, what a fantastic difference. Capezio is incredible and their support awesome! She is dancing beautifully and safely on pointe now! Try these! You won't be disappointed!

I have really high arches and strong feet. These shoes made my feet look amazing, but I killed them in 2 weeks or so. They have really good support until you fall off a couple times. Then you know it's time to get new ones!

Beautiful Pointe Shoe!

I was just fitted for these at a local store. They look beautiful on, are a perfect light pink and work well with GM pink elastic and light professional pink flexers ribbons. Can't wait to wear them!

I left a review a while ago saying that these were really good shoes. They were, but they are already super soft and it's been less than a month.

These pointe shoes are the most versatile in the world! I love them. They give the perfect amount of support.

Great shoes
Rating: 5
I have been dancing on pointe for about 3 years now, and I think these shoes are great! My only complaint is that the box dies pretty fast, but some jet glue usually fixes that. These are good for beginners because they are easy to roll through, break-in fast, and have lots of support. If you have really strong feet, they die fast, but they are good throughout their life. If these are broken in, then they are pretty quiet, and depending on your foot, they either look really good, or really bad. I recommend getting them first at a store before ordering online because some people don't like the wide box.

Amazing for the first 3 classes..

Well...it's so hard to review a pointe shoe...they're so individual.
But all I can say is, broke in easy, died too early.
They were comfy while they lasted--about 1 week.

Really nice
Rating: 4
Before I even tried on these shoes, my feet went right over onto the box. I don't have very good arches or flexibility but I do have strength. These shoes give my feet all the support. But the only downside is that while breaking them in, the inside of the shank came apart. Originally I didn't mind. But, the nail keeping them together was poking through the bottom and it was very sharp. But folding the nail solved it completely. Otherwise, I think these shoes are great and I would recommend them to girls with feet like mine :)

OK...but there are better shoes
Rating: 3
This is my sixth year en pointe and I bought a pair of these maybe ... 2 years ago. They were OK but the platform broke down in the wrong place because the platform is longer. I recommend Gaynor minden pointe shoes over these shoes. I've been wearing the Gaynor Mindens for over a year and they are wonderful.

I always get these shoes. They feel great and are loud when you are landing a jump. The only problem--I break them in really fast like in 2-3 classes, then they are pretty much dead in 2 weeks. Other than that, I love them.

Wonderful!
Rating: 5
These work great for my feet and I am very happy with them! I have a small foot with wide toes that are relatively the same length and a narrow heel. After cutting the shank to 3/4 and breaking them in, they fit my feet perfectly. However, the only drawback is that they don't last too long, and get soft pretty easily. All in all though, they're the closest to a 'right-fit' that I've come to. For those out there with a wider foot, definitely give these a try.

These were my first shoes. They are one of the best shoes out there, the heel is baggy, but there are many ways to help that. I also have really wide feet and had to get the double wide and they worked great... They have a hard shank at first, but I broke them in, in about a week! I recommend these shoes to beginners and everyone also who is en pointe!!!

Rating: 5
They work great. I have really wide feet and have to use the double wide. They lasted me three months of dancing 2 hours, 5 days a week on pointe (most on me only last 1 month), extra hard shank though. Make feet look beautiful, cheap, good quality. All in all, great shoes.

Shoe Is Amazing!
Rating: 5
I have gone through Grishko and Chacott pointe shoes. However, the wide box of the Capezio Glisse enables me to move and flow through pointe like never before. Break-in time lasted only a few rehearsals but this shoe puts me right on my leg and allows me to feel where my weight is. My first glance, I thought, this would make my feet look quite ugly. I was completely wrong. It accentuates my pointe and arch more so than ever. I am sure it is worth a try.

Personally, these pointe shoes were just OK. They were fine at first but then they just died and way TOO SOON! I only wore them for about a few weeks before they first snapped. My mom refused to get me new pointe shoes sooo close to our big dance recital, so I 3/4 shanked them, which was fine for about a day until they just kept snapping. I ended up dancing on them. Overall, they made my feet look great but that was because they were snapped in 3 spots so these may be good for a person with a weak arch but they are NOT FOR ME!

05/24/08 by Katie Rose from Ravenna, OH
so so.
Rating: 4
I got these shoes for my first pointe class. I have a few complaints:
-they lose their color fast
-if you are a beginner, like me, they are hard to get up onto the box
-the shank weakens easily
-baggy in the heel
-slides off your heel unless it's tied PERFECTLY
Other than that, it's a great shoe. But, I recommend the Glisse Pro--addresses most of these problems.

Not too good
Rating: 3
I got these for my first year of pointe and they broke-in very easily (even with my horrid feet). They are very comfortable in the box (not in the arches once you break them in a bit)but the box practically disintegrates after wearing them for only a short time. They are very nice looking and flatter my (monsterously) wide feet.
PS-in the description it says that they are the highest selling shoe for Capezio, but where I'm from, almost no one wears them unless they have tried others that don't work for them and have money to spend (or like me and they are your fist pair). Overall, I would give them a 5 out of 10: they could be great for you but they could be horrible.

05/24/08 by Manda
Too soft!
Rating: 3
I bought these for my first year of pointe (1 one-hour class per week). They did not last long at all. The box was much too soft so it molded more to my toes and did not flatten (so it was much harder to balance).

I have very weird feet that are HORRIBLE to fit in pointe shoes. I was about ready to give up on finding a good pair when I was fitted with these. A lot of the girls in my class use these too. They work on a wide variety of feet. They have a very square box, but I have extremely tapered toes. And yet have no problems with big toe pain. I just wear a toe spacer and stuff lambs wool in the bottom and my toes are happy even after a full class! As someone with a lower arch, I LOVE the soft skived shank. It doesn't show off my arch like my 2007s no, but it DOES form to my arch and support me through everything I do. I never wobble in this shoe because of the wide platform. I feel INCREDIBLY secure in this shoe. Most shoes refuse to stay straight on my foot (out of about 50 other pairs I've tried) stays straight so my platform is centered correctly. I love love LOVE this shoe. I will continue to wear it until I need a stronger shoe. This isn't a soft shoe, but it's not rock hard like Grishkos or Blochs or anything.

Use Jet Glue
Rating: 4
As a girl with a high arch and wide feet, I liked these shoes. Since I tend to wear out pointe shoes pretty quickly (a month would be pushing it), I chose to get the Extra Strength version, which has an extra hard shank. Though the box does wear out very quickly (I'd suggest using Jet Glue if you are like me), what I like about these is that the shank extends all the way to the tip of the box, adding extra support-especially when you are forced to dance on a dead box.

I own a pair of them and they really are wonderful for me to be exact. What I like about this shoe, is that it gives an extraordinary support for my feet and I think they look absolutely beautiful.

04/27/08 by Julia from Kentucky
Rating: 3
I have been wearing these shoes ever since I started pointe, 9 years ago. As I started to do more pointe work and wearing them for almost every ballet class, I noticed after only a couple of wears the box and shank breaks down. When they break down, I was forced to sickle on pointe. I have wide feet and high arches so it is destined for me to go through pointe shoes fast. When I heard Capezio were more of a soft shoe, I switched to the Grishko Elites, a harder shoe.

I HATE this shoe!!! I know so many people who have been fitted in this shoe when first going on pointe and then had no idea why pointe work was so hard for them. The large platform produces so much instability. This shoe is also cut way too high in the back (you can see it in the photo). Glisses are perhaps the worst shoes I have ever worn.

3 things...
Rating: 3
There are 3 reasons I give these shoes just 3 stars:
-Baggy in the heels
-The box breaks down quickly/flattens out too quick
-And the color fades within the first couple weeks
But overall, these are great shoes. I started with these, then bought the pros, then came back to these. On my 3rd pair of these and they're working great!

Rating: 5
These pointe shoes are wonderful for a beginner to an intermediate ballerina. I myself, use these Capezio pointe shoes and they have yet to fail me. Even though one should not dance on a broken shank, the shoe will still provide support when dancing with a snapped shank. I would highly recommend these shoes to an aspiring ballerina.

03/21/08 by Rae from British Columbia
NOT for beginners!
Rating: 3
These shoes are okay for intermediate dancers with an okay arch. However, for me, I have pretty much no arch and I've been wearing my shoes for 7 months and they're still not broken in. I'm not sure if it's because of my light weight or if it's the shoe; I'm thinking it's both. Also, as a beginner, they tend to hurt my toes and toenails if you forget to cut them. They pinch my feet a bit too much. But they're okay I guess.

03/17/08 by Grace
Not for low arches
Rating: 3
I had a hard time with these shoes because I have very low arches, and the platform died before the arch was even broken in yet. I really don't suggest it for people with flat feet.

Get the pros!
Rating: 3
These shoes break-in very easily, and even with time for them to dry, they seem to warp... or at least mine did. They also lose color within the first couple weeks. There is WAY too much fabric on the heel, so I recommend getting the Glisse pros. Overall these shoes are a good starter. I wear a street size 7.5-8 and I got an 8.5W in these.

02/09/08 by Olivia from California
Soft Box!
Rating: 4
I am getting my third pair of these in less than two years of pointe. I have wide toes and wear a size 8 in street, and get size 8.5 WW for these. The shanks get soft really fast which I like, but I hate how quickly the platform and box get soft! They should make them available harder.

01/31/08 by Caroline from Boston
Rating: 4
I really like these shoes. I have been on pointe for about 5 years and this is my second pair of Glisses. I feel very supported in them and they're great for balancing. My only complaint is that they can get a little bunchy at the heels. Nice shoe overall, though.

01/22/08 by Jojo from Alpharetta
Rating: 5
I love them! I don't have a great arch, but I remove the top nail on the shank and I can get over my box way easier! Soon, I'm going to buy my third pair!

Pretty good
Rating: 3
I like these pointe shoes OK but they kind of squished my toes. They were really easy to break-in which is great, but I don't have a big arch and had a hard time getting on top of the box. These shoes are not for people with small arches.

01/05/08 by K from California
Pretty good
Rating: 4
These shoes were pretty good shoes. They have a nice line, and are comfortable most of the time, (I don't know, but my first pair of these made me get many blisters! But I've tried many pairs since then, and they don't do that to my feet anymore!). They are GREAT for wide feet like mine, WW. They make my feet look more narrow, and pretty normal-looking. I only have a couple complaints:

1. Too baggy, no matter how tight you try to fit them

2. Box dies too fast

3. And their regular shank is WAY too soft. I kill these shoes in less than a week WITH LOTS of jet glue on both the shank and box.

I think that the Glisse Pros address most of these problems, so I would recommend the Glisse Pro's if you have the same problems with these shoes. But I love the price!

Great shoes
Rating: 5
These shoes are really great. If you have narrow feet, don't get these. They have a beautiful wide box that is not tapered. So if you like tapered, these aren't for you. They are very pretty shoes. The shank is elegant and quiet and breaks in very quickly.

11/22/07 by Balletfreak
These are GREAT!
Rating: 4
These shoes are doing well! They aren't very appealing on my feet which are narrow, and I have a longer second toe on one foot, but I have worn these shoes 3 times and they're doing good so far. I'm having trouble getting up on the box, but my feet should get stronger and they will look better soon! These are the shoes to buy!

Absolutely Awful
Rating: 1
I have been en pointe for almost four years, and Capezio Glisse pointe shoes was my first and second pair. Why I bought them again is beyond me. They are uncomfortable, narrow, hard to break in, and just plain horrible! By the time I broke them in, I had to buy a new pair because I grew out of them. When I started pointe, my first class was only 30 minutes, but the pointe shoe was so uncomfortable, I immediately wanted to get out of them! They are really, very terrible and I would certainly not recommend these shoes to anyone who actually wants to have a comfortable pointe shoe.

10/23/07 by Lilly
Rating: 5
I really like Capezio Glisse because they are very comfortable and the shank isn't super hard but it isn't too flimsy. And I really like how it makes a nice rounded arch look. Plus, I think that unlike Freeds, it allows you to get all the way up on your box.

10/22/07 by Kathleen
Rating: 2
These shoes were too narrow for my wide feet, so it looked like I was sickling. Also, they hurt the tips of my big toes a lot (I have tapered toes), even with lambs wool and ouch pouches. I didn't like how soft and pink they were either. However, I know other girls that wear them, and the shoes look lovely on them.

Amazing pointe shoes!
Rating: 5
I have gotten these pointe shoes ever since I started pre-pointe and they are beautiful! I can get over them completely. These shoes definitely don't work for everyone though. I would definitely recommend getting them fitted at a dance shop first. The ES is also very nice for those of us who break in easily :)

BEAUTIFUL!!!!
Rating: 3
I am using these shoes right now and they look great on my feet. When they are brand new, they look like Freed's. The only thing is they are not strong enough for me and they make my feet hurt a lot, but other than that, they are beautiful shoes. They also have a beautiful color too.

An okay shoe, but I recommend the "Glisse Pro"-less material at the heel, so it bags a lot less and is much more flattering.

Good support, but painful!
Rating: 4
My first pair of pointe shoes were inherited from a friend, and I loved the feel of them. But when I was fitted for pointes of my own and got these, suddenly pointe was painful! The wide box provides great support, but I wouldn't recommend buying these unless you're comfortable using really cushy toepads.

These shoes look nice on my feet and lasted long (5 classes). I bought them at a boutique and they gave me double shank. Too bad they don't sell them with a double shank here. Overall, this shoe works great for more advanced dancers

These shoes are the best!
Rating: 5
My daughter was initially using the Contempora, but she has been using the Glisse since she went to NYC and was fitted for the "right pointe shoe". They said with her arch and the length of her toes, this was the best shoe for her. It has been a godsend. Although she was good, the support has really helped her ability.

Rating: 5
I love these pointe shoes, I didn't buy them here but I bought them at a store near by. I am flat footed so when I do pointe, it's harder for me and when I was at the store, I could get all the way on pointe! So I give them a 5!

09/13/07 by Rebekah from New York
Good for wider feet
Rating: 5
I love these shoes! My feet are broad and don't have any tapering, and these fit well. They have a long, comfy vamp and the Extra Strength lasts a long time. Plus, they have an elegant shape and enhance your arch. These are good shoes! Go Capezio!

Great!
Rating: 5
These shoes fit perfectly on my feet. I have narrow feet with long toes. During my first class, it took me five minutes to fully break them in, so I have a feeling they won't last very long. They are more comfortable than other pointe shoes though.

Extremely comfy
Rating: 5
This is my pointe shoe! It is fantastically comfortable and easy to roll through demi pointe in. This shoe makes pointe less painful. I have fairly long toes and narrow feet but I am a double wide in these shoes so be careful with the widths! Get these shoes and enjoy!

Hated them!

As a beginner/intermediate dancer, these shoes stunk! They took forever to break- in and then once broken in, all thru class all I could think about was taking them off! They may be great for you but I will never buy these again!

This is the best ever! I started wearing these my 2nd year of taking pointe when they were new, and 6 years later, I am still wearing them! You just bend the shank (I take the nails out), and they are already broken in the first time you wear them! I have to say, they get "dead" VERY VERY fast, but they look beautiful, are comfy, and support while doing turns very nicely. Have fun with them!

I am a beginner at Pointe, and I just love the feel of this shoe. I have a pretty wide foot, so it is ideal for me. If comfort is more important to you than looks, then this is the shoe to get! I actually think this shoe is quite attractive! (personal preference)Don't get the Bloch Suprima! Really uncomfortable, and too narrow, for me anyway. This Capezio Pointe Shoe is ACE! Cheerio!

This shoe looks OK on my feet. I used to love them, but that was when I started on pointe. Now that I have stronger arches, they died in 3 classes. I know that you can't make a shoe too hard, but this shoe was way too soft. They are still good shoes though.

Love them!
Rating: 4
Most people say that this shoe makes them knuckle and doesn't last long. I have a pretty good arch, and I've had them for 3 months already and they haven't gone even a little soft yet. And I dance 7 1/2 hours a week with them! My only problem was that at first, they made my feet look a little boxy, and for the first time, I had to wear Ouch Pouches with them. In all the time I've been doing pointe, I just put in paper towels on my feet. These killed my toes, but once I got used to them, they're awesome!

05/19/07 by Anonymous from Portland, OR
Pretty, but not much life
Rating: 5
These shoes look gorgeous on my high arched feet! The only problem I had was that the shoe would die waaay too fast. Even with Jet glue, I *completely* killed a brand-new pair in a single performance. Pretty, but not practical for me.

My feet are too wide for these shoes but my sister has them and she loves them! They last a good 3 or 4 months before going dead, and what I hear from my sister, is they are pretty comfortable. I wish I could wear them. They have nice arches and look great on wide and thin feet. (They are popular shoes in my pointe class).

You'll love them or hate them.
Rating: 5
A girl at the company said she didn't like them because she knuckles in them. I tried them on and loved them! The vamp is a little high for my taste but the platform is so nice, I feel like I could balance forever. I don't have a very strong arch and have never broken a shank or made boxes go soft. I softened the box up a little and was able to demi pointe with no problem. I love the look and feel of these shoes. I had the Tendu I, but the toe tapered way too much and squished my toes.

Great beginner shoe but not so pretty
Rating: 4
These were my very first pair of pointes.
The platform was extremely easy to balance on and I was amazed at how much easier pointe turned out to be.
I have strong feet with medium arches and it took a while to break in to this shoe, in order for me to get up completely onto the box. At first I could very easily (almost effortlessly) roll up to about 90% up to pointe, but the last 10% to get totally on the box, was impossible until it was broken in more.
I did not find that they died (too) quickly for me. The shank usually dies first from back to front.
I also didn't need elastics. The heel stayed on very comfortable for me so I only used ribbons.
The box does seem like it is designed for square toes. Mine are tapered with my 2nd toe being really long. I used mini gel toe pads under my big toe, put inside my Ouch Pouches, and it fixed that problem. Though I think this might not be the best shoe for tapered toes, I strongly recommend using some kind of padding with this shoe. Overall, I think these are a great shoe for beginners because they are very forgiving and supportive. The only part that I did not like, was that the shank did not bend well at any part of arch that flattered my feet (it's not a very pretty shoe).

Rating: 4
I love these shoes and was able to get up on them the first day of class. The only problem I have with them, is that the bottom of the shoe and the box are at a sharp 90 degree angle, so until they are broken in, you are either all the way on your shoe or you're not up at all -- there's no in- between.

Beginners=perfect! Strong feet=not good
Rating: 4
These were my first pair of shoes, and Glisse Pros were my second pair. They are both essentially the same. Especially for a beginning pointe student; I had very strong feet. These shoes were perfect for about my first month, until I better learned the technique, but then I broke them in very quickly. Since I shouldn't really be compared to, since I have such strong feet, (I was wearing extra strong shanks by the middle of my first year on pointe, and went through 9 pairs of shoes in only my first year) I will tell you the experiences of my friend. She has "normal" feet, and loved the shoes. They gave her tons of support, and for me and her, were very easy to balance on because of the wide box. I would highly recommend these to any beginning pointe student, but after at least a year, I would think about changing shoes. ALSO -- they are not an amazing make because my nails fell out! And, they don't look too good on your feet =(

I have low arches, and these help a lot. Though, they're not very flattering on my feet. Also, they wear out way too quickly. After four months, with three pointe classes a week, they're dead.

This pointe shoe is WONDERFUL for WIDE FEET with BIG ARCHES! These look sooo beautiful on my feet, and I have really wide feet. These shoes lasted me eight months, but they were REALLY broken by that time! They last about a month or two ... dancing 13 hours a week, but these shoes are wonderful! I also recommend (if you liked these shoes) Capezio Chasses-THEY ARE GOOD TOO!

I have 5 years pointe experience. Tne Glisse is a very flattering shoe but they die so quickly. It isn't worth the money because I had to replace my shoes every 3 weeks. I recently switched to Suffolk Country Solos, and I am never switching back to these.

Awesome! I totally loooove them!

These shoes are outstanding! I have been using various Bloch shoes but I always broke the shank or wore them out too quickly. Then I tried these ... they are so awesome! The graduated shank makes my arch look superb. I can balance very well on them as well. They also help you get all the way over. They are just amazing! I don't think I will ever use a different type of pointe shoe.
I have wider feet. (for a dancer) I couldn't ever wear Capezio (in shoes) because they were ALWAYS too narrow! Now that I've tried these, I can't say that! They are stupendous! I absolutely love them :)

I love these! They have a very flat stable surface to dance on. I have flat, narrowish feet and they fit my feet pretty well. I used to wear Chacott, but they broke in too quickly and there would be
no support =( These shoes are great for flat, square feet! GET THEM!

Eh. The Glisses were all right, but probably not for me. My arch looks FANTASTIC in them, but the box seemed too thin or something of the sort, and they started to hurt even after I broke them in (which didn't take too long, even with my crummy arches). If you can stand pain, I'd highly suggest these. Otherwise, hey ... good luck.

I am a beginner and I have this pointe shoe. It's OK and makes my foot look better on pointe than Plie II. I haven't had a real pointe class yet so I have no idea how well it works. The problem is, before I sewed the elastics on, the heel always slipped off and it was pretty annoying :)

Not the best.

These shoes aren't bad in the beginning but they die very quickly. The box is too broad. I wouldn't recommend these for beginners.

After using these shoes for about four classes, they completely died on me. I recommend getting the stronger shank if you've been on pointe for a while and have high/strong arches.

I like these shoes a lot. They are very flattering except for the occasional excess heel fabric. Overall they are great! By the way, if your shoes die out quickly, try using JET GLUE to harden them for longer wear time. It really works!

Great for big arches!
Rating: 5
I have had a hard time finding a good pointe shoe for my feet because I naturally have big arches, and didn't have enough strength in them to not go over the box or pop out of the shoes. These shoes were the answer to my problems. They have a very high vamp that goes all of the way to the drawstring. They encouraged my toes to stay straight in the box and had enough room for my wide feet. Since I have generally strong feet, I buy the extra strength (ES)shoes and they last for about 6 or 7 months. They are very good shoes for certain people and certain feet, but not for others. If you are considering buying Glisses for the first time, I would suggest going to your local dance store and seeing if they are right for your feet before ordering them from a catalog and getting stuck with them if they aren't right for you. Personally, they are the best shoes I have owned by far!

I used to really like these shoes, until I found something more comfortable and found out how much I was suffering. I used them for about a year, and they die easily. My second toe is longer than my big toe, and I have generally skinny toes, but the box is like too big or something. I would only recommend this shoe if you like elastic drawstrings and a flattering color for...like a day.

I've been on pointe for 2 1/2 years and I've tried six or seven different types of shoes and these have worked the best for me. The only thing that I don't like about them is they die extremely fast. Like, I get a brand new pair and within two weeks, the box is mush. Oh well. But they work great for people with wide feet and medium length toes!

I love these shoes! I don't roll over in them too much. Before, I had Chacotts and my arches were practically touching the floor. My arches still look amazing in them, but they actually give support.

If you have square feet, even toes, and a low arch, these will look amazing when you try them on. DON"T BE FOOLED! They are "heavy" unresponsive, and the vamp is a bit too deep for many short toed people. Also, the shank and sole are very "thick" making you feel very uncomfortable doing turns or adagio. They are actually pretty awful, as a lot of girls will find with most Capezio pointe shoes. Go for Freeds or Grishkos instead for strength and flexibility.

When I got them, I was in love with the Glisse. Now I hate them. I was experiencing extreme toe pain when up en pointe and it was never as comfortable as it could be. They were- and are- very flattering, but don't be fooled. Make sure your toes aren't smashing into your boxes if you get fitted for these! When I switched to Blochs, I realized how horrible my Glisses really were.

I wore the Glisse pointe shoes for about three years and it was torture the entire time. They are really uncomfortable. I got bloody blisters and the seam ripped at the heel after one class. But I have to admit that they flatter my feet. Overall, I don't recommend these shoes.

I had these shoes for a while and thought that they were the best ever. Then I started getting bunions, and they started to hurt. I then started to notice that they looked really bulky on stage. And on top of everything, during long rehearsals, since the shank was really short, it gave me huge calluses on my heels. I would not recommend this shoe.

I started out en pointe with the Glisses and then I switched to Freed Classics. Recently I tried the Glisses again. Although they looked nice on my feet (somewhat wide feet with low to moderate arches) they caused an unbearable amount of pain on my big toenails. I had some of the other girls in my company try them on and they said the same thing. I remembered back to when I first started pointe and how often I had bruised and painful toenails but I thought it was just a part of pointe work. It isn't, it is the Glisses. Be careful girls!

These are my second pair of pointe shoes. My first was a 3/4 shank and when I put these on, the shank isn't real hard, so it reminds me of a 3/4 shank, since you have a pretty easy bend. I recommend these for stronger dancers. They are very flattering and I love the expanded platform. You can balance very easily on them. I can wear these without toe pads because they are quite comfy and for some reason don't hurt my feet much, but with my other pair, I wouldn't dream of not wearing a toe pad. There's just something about this shoe that's real comfy. They are also very beautiful.

I've been on pointe for three years and I started with Glisses. At first I loved them but by my third pair, they began to break in too fast and die within a month. I tried other shoes but similar problems happened. I like the square and wide box, but after one 5 1/2 hour week, it began to collapse. The shanks are also too soft, even the Extra Strength. But they flatter almost anyone's feet. I'm resigned to keep using them and racking up huge pointe shoe bills on my parent's credit cards.

Very Dependable

I wore these shoes for about 4 years and after trying every other brand you could possibly think of, these were the only ones I could depend on to get up consistently, mold well to my feet, etc. The only downfall is that I have narrow feet and low arches, so it isn't the MOST flattering, although I got many compliments. I recommend it to anyone with low arches, who has a hard time finding a shoe to dance in. =)

I have been on pointe for only 1 year, and this is the one and only pointe shoe I have worn for the whole year(other than the chinese toe shoes that I wore for 2 or 3 times). They last VERY long, are SOO comfortable, and show off my arch REALLY well. Although the material is messed up on the platform, the shoe is still supportive. I am getting a Grishko now, and I will definitely miss this shoe. I recommend for people with wide feet ahd strong toes. My feet are wide and strong as well. If you have my feet, BUY!

The only 2 pointe shoes I've worn have been this Glisse pointe shoe and the Glisse Pro. I prefer the Pro more because this shoe has more baggage at the heel and covers more of your arch. The Glisse Pro has a lower cut to show off more of your arch or to enhance the look of your arch if you don't have one. This shoe held up pretty well but I think the Pro is a better buy!

This is the 4th kind of Pointe shoe I have tried in the 6 yrs I've been on pointe. I usually use Suffolks but they have had manufacturing problems, so I tried several brands at a reputable store. They recommended Glisses for me and they looked great! Problem is, after just 1 day( 4 hrs) the box was totally DEAD! Tried glue and got 1 more class out of them but now the shank is dead too. I am not usually hard on pointe shoes but since Suffolks has problems, I can't find a shoe that lasts more than 3 or 4 classes. Glisses look great but die way too fast!!!

While these shoes are extremely comfortable, they can break in rather quickly... The Glisse was my second pair of pointe shoes and I liked them a lot, but the box got pretty soft after just one month. The sides of the box stayed sturdy, but the platform got a little mushy.
The shanks on these shoes are great for high arches and they support me well. I have wide, square shaped feet with even toes and a high arch and these shoes were great for me. If you don't have strong feet these probably aren't the best shoes for you, though.

Only worn 'em for 1 class, but it was so nice! After blowing a shank on a different shoe after only 2 weeks, I knew it was time to switch. My feet are strong from 6 years of pointe, and I found that they were nice. Pinched the bunions, but oh well. Only one thing...and that's that I'm still trying to manage a balance on new shoes! But other than that, it's FANTASTIC!!!!

I liked these and hated them at the same time. I liked how they were not bulky and how they had a high vamp for my long toes, but I thought they broke way too quickly and really hurt the nail on my big toe. I don't recommend the shoes for beginners. I've been on pointe for about two years now and I'm not very satisfied with the shoes. The vamp digs into my foot. The wide box causes me to be pushed to the floor and have my foot crushed. The shoes seem to break in too easily. Within a week of using these shoes, they were broken in and began to feel uncomfortable. They look great but overall they're not the best I've had.

The Shoe was OK, I guess. In the beginning, I loved them, but then my foot started to twist in the box. Causing my shoe to be crooked and I was trying to dance on my pinkie toe. And since it has a wide box, my foot got pushed down into the shoe, causing all my body weight to be on my first couple toes. Ouch! But, I might just try them again.

Break in too fast!

These shoes are very comfortable and do not cause a lot of blisters and pain, but they break in rather fast if you have strong arches and feet. They are great the very first wear, but don't count on them lasting for over two weeks!

Even though these shoes were flattering, I had a terrible time with them! They broke within one week of pointe six days a week, and the left shoe's vamp collapsed as though I had hammered it or something. The vamp was also very high.

I hate these shoes. They killed my arches, top and bottom. The boxes hurt too. They are way too wide and square. The shanks came already bent, yeah, with a curve to them, so it was more difficult to go on half-toe. I will never get these again!

This shoe is a very good pointe shoe for those, like myself, who have a very low instep and find it difficult to get on pointe. Although, people with low arches often have very strong feet, the shoe gets "broken in" too fast, and will wear out easily. IOverall, a nice fitting shoe that does wonders to an enhanced arch.

The perfect shoe! I have narrow feet with tapered toes...you wouldn't think these would work, but they do wonders with balancing and they really pull you up and out, instead of letting you knuckle over. I recommend the extra strength shank for people with strong, high arches though.

I love Glisse pointe shoes because they have a perfect balance between flexibility and strength. They last me about 2 months with heavy dancing, and break in fairly quickly. "Glissé" Pointe Shoe

Read all 135 reviews    Write a review!
Capezio®'s popular Glissé pointe shoe, which debuted in Spring 2003, has quickly attained the illustrious position of becoming the company's best-selling pointe shoe ever. Originally designed from specifications developed by Gine Chant, a former ballerina with the London City Ballet and proprietor of Norwich Dancewear with more than ten years of experience in fitting dancers, this leading product features a streamlined, rounded sole; a flattering, high U-shaped vamp; extended platform for maximum support; shaved shank for enhanced in-step; and attractive elastic drawstring.

Since its successful introduction, an additional need surfaced for a version of Glissé with a stronger shank to accommodate a wider range of dancers. Recognizing that a softer shank does not suit every dancer, and to provide the highest level of service to its customers, Capezio® developed Glissé ES, lending increased support to dancers and enhancing the lifetime of the shoe.

"Generally, a shoe with a softer shank is worn by dancers at the two ends of the spectrum: young dancers who have low arches, dancers who have difficulty getting 'over' on pointe, and very strong professional dancers that need less 'help' from the shank of a shoe," explained Chant. "This leaves a vast group of dancers requiring a greater level of support, which is now satisfied with the introduction of Glissé ES."

"While many of our customers loved the shape and feel of Glissé, many required a stronger shank," continued Chant. "The original Glissé still sells well and is ideal for many dancers. Now with the introduction of the Glissé ES, an even greater number of dancers can benefit form the shoe's best-selling design and features."

Capezio®'s Glissé pointe shoe features a graduated flat crown box for maximum support, balance and stability, without extending to the top of the vamp. The top quarter of the hard shank is skived, enhancing your instep on and off of pointe. A high "U" shaped vamp, tapered satin around the heel and elastic drawstrings are other features to this beautifully tailored shoe. Available in two shanks, Regular and Extra Strength.
